Looking for a way to use Canvas on the go? Now you have an option for your Android or iOS device. Canvas recently released their newest version of the Canvas App for Android and iOS. While its new design is sleek and easy to navigate, the app is still missing some key features...like access to modules without needing to go through the website.
The basic setup: After you log into the Canvas app your courses will appear in two columns. Courses are organized by favorites, then by quarter. Your favorites list is the same as the drop-down list of courses when you use the Canvas website. There’s an option at the bottom to select favorites or all courses to see previous quarter’s courses or to see unpublished courses. From this front page you can access your profile, a specific class, Canvas help, to do list, notifications, and messages.

The best feature about the new Canvas App is the messaging center. This feature makes it so easy to message your students on your mobile device. To send a message you can start typing in the name of that course or a specific student’s name. A dropdown list will appear with names to select.
The Positives:
Areas to improve:
Once Canvas fixes the areas to improve, this app is on it's way to greatness!

The Positives:
- Sleek design
- Easy to navigate
- Messaging in the app is awesome
Areas to improve:
- App currently does not display the People, Outcomes, Modules, Collaborations, Quizzes, Conferences, or Settings tabs
- No Calendar
- No speed grader (there’s a separate speed grader app, but it would be nice if there was just one app for everything)
